Obituary of Robert Christiansen

Robert “Chris” Christiansen, 84, of Hague, NY passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 31, 2024.  Chris was born in Jersey City, NJ on April 16, 1939, to the late Lief and Edna (Tapen) Christiansen.  They resided in Weehawken, NJ.  In the early 1950’s they purchased a summer home on Lake Hopatcong, NJ and would spend summers there.  Chris established Hopatcong as his residence when he married Catherine (Buck) in 1965.  In 2008 they retired to Hague, NY.

Beloved husband of the late Catherine (Buck).  Chris is survived by his son Chris Christiansen of Byram, NJ and a daughter Debra Boag and husband Patrick of Colts Neck, NJ, and their children: Colton, Chesney, Hunter and Logan.

He was employed as a Machinist at Todd Shipyards where he learned all his trade.  When Chris settled in Hopatcong, he was employed with the International Union of Elevator Constructors.  He then became a self-employed water well driller, owning BC Well Drilling.  Upon retiring from water well drilling, he was employed by Lakeside Construction as a traveling mechanic.  Chris had a passion for building and fixing things.  He was always helping a friend put a deck on their home or a new roof.   He loved boating on Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Lake George, NY, hiking on an Adirondack trail to a water tower, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling and taking long drives to see mountains.   He was an exempt volunteer fireman serving Hopatcong’s Northwood Fire Department #2.
