Obituary of Dorothy Ann Gall

Dorothy Ann Gall, 93, of Great Meadows, NJ, formerly of Budd Lake, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on April 23, 1930 to the late Clarence and the late Edna (Sahr) Hanley, Dorothy resided in Budd Lake for over 40 years prior to moving to Great Meadows eight years ago.  Dorothy was a proud graduate of Snyder High School in Jersey City, Class of 1948.

Dorothy lived for her family. Stuffed cabbage, venison stew and burnt chocolate chip cookies were her specialty. Dorothy enjoyed Broadway shows, trips to Atlantic City and long rides in the car. There is nothing she wouldn't do for her beloved husband "Billy", her three children and her grandchildren. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed watching television. Golden Girls, Matlock and any western movie were her favorites. Dorothy loved "trips to the farm" for apple cider doughnuts, flowers and goodies. She introduced Hacklebarney State Park to her family and enjoyed heading out each fall to see the foliage and purchase a fresh baked pie. Two of Dorothy's favorite places to frequent were Hot Dog Johnny's and Cliff's Ice Cream.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband William "Billy" in 2011, son William in 1995, sister Eleanor Feeney and brother C. Jack Hanley.

Survivors include her son Thomas Gall and his wife; Natalie, daughter Kelley Timan and her husband; John and six grandchildren; Alexandra and Olivia Gall, David and Thomas D'Olivo and John and Julia Timan.

Dorothy's Life Celebration will include visitation on Sunday January 21st from 12:00-4:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday January 22nd beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Thaddeus RC Church, 17 Mt. Olive Road, Budd Lake, NJ. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Jersey City Firefighter's Distress Fund, 2 Jackson Square 6th Floor, Jersey City, NJ 07305.
