Obituary of Vera L. Crane

Vera Lillian Crane passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the House of Good the Shepherd Retirement Community, Hackettstown, NJ surrounded by her loving family. She was 107 years old. Vera was born on November 30, 1913 in Beverly, Massachusetts to the late William and the late Susanna (Noel) Crane. Vera was a lifelong resident in Brooklyn, NY and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church since 1927. She was employed as a secretary at CitiBank in New York City and retired in 1978. Family was the center of Vera's universe; she was the family historian, never missing a birthday or anniversary. Vera loved spending time with her family and friends. Vera loved NYC and took her nieces and nephews (two at a time) to Radio City Music Hall, the Statue of Liberty, Horn and Hardart, and other great NYC sites. Vera is survived by 4 generations of loving nieces and nephews. When she retired, she enjoyed volunteering at the Interfaith Medical Center. In April 2000 she received the United Hospital Fund Volunteer Achievement Award for her 10,000 hours of service at a special ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria. At St. Thomas Church, NYC, she enjoyed guiding tour groups and teaching visitors the history of the church and the city. Vera also served as a docent in the Trinity Church Museum. Vera spent many hours assembling gift packages for the Seaman and Mariners at the Seamen's Church Institute. In the summertime she volunteered at the World Methodist Camp Meetings in Ocean Grove, NJ. Vera's Life Celebration Services will include a funeral mass on Wednesday, March 3rd at 12:00 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church, 286-88 7th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY #718-768-1156. Family & friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Wednesday afternoon. Vera will be laid to rest at the Green-Wood Cemetery also in Brooklyn, NY. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
