Obituary of Charles R. Horvath

Charles R. Horvath, 66, of the Landing section of Roxbury Township passed away on Tuesday August 25, 2020 at his home. Born in Newark, NJ on June 19, 1954 to the late Charles and Emily Horvath, he resided in Lyndhurst, North Arlington and Bloomfield prior to residing in Hopatcong for 26 years. Charles moved to Landing one year ago. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from William Paterson College in 1976. Charles worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Essex Chemical in Newark and served as President of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers (OCAW) Union during his time there. He also worked at McWilliams Forge in Rockaway. Charles was an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed hunting in the winter, fishing and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was a member of numerous area dart teams, as well as, member of the BPO Elks Lodge 782 in Mt. Arlington where he served as Exalted Ruler in 2019 – 2020. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Deborah in 2013 and a sister, Carol Cox. Survivors include his children Charles P. (Tracy) and Christine Bogner (Joshua), four grandchildren, Vaida, Lucas, Makenna and Kinsley Bogner, six siblings, George Horvath, John Horvath, Cheryl Mango, Debbie A'Hara, Diane Somers and Laura Jewell and his significant other, Sallimae Johnson. Charles' Life Celebration will include visiting on Saturday August 29, 2020 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. All other services are private.
