Obituary of Josephine Tomasello

Josephine Tomasello, 102, long time Brooklyn, NY resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 30, 2019 at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville Campus surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Alia, Italy, Josephine came to the United States at the age of 4 with her parents and siblings and settled in Brooklyn, New York. She later married Anthony Tomasello and continued to live in Brooklyn until moving to Hopatcong, New Jersey just three months ago. She also worked with her two brothers and nephew in their toy factory decorating stuffed animals. Josephine spent many summers in the Lake Hopatcong area with her husband Tony and family since 1948 when they built their own summer home in Hopatcong. 

Josephine was predeceased by her husband Tony in 1972 and  daughter Anna who died in 2016.

Survivors include her daughter, Vivian Tomasello, two grandsons, Anthony Graziani and his wife, Susana and Dante Graziani and his wife, Hope and four grandchildren, Anthony, Mario, Dante and Nunzio Graziani. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Josephine's Life Celebration will include visiting on Sunday July 7 from 2-6 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Catholic prayer service will be offered on Monday, July 8 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Josephine will be laid to rest in Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Wyandanch, NY 11798.
