
Obituary of Nicholas Edward Coombs
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Edward Coombs, who was born on August 21, 1998, in Morristown, New Jersey.
Nicholas attended Sussex Vo-Tech High School in Sparta, NJ where he was voted Homecoming King in 2016. A graduate of Montclair State University, Nicholas earned a Bachelor of Business degree and was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships and created cherished memories. He earned Dean’s List honors all four years.
Music was Nicholas's greatest passion. A gifted singer, songwriter, and performer, he began playing music at the age of 14 and became the lead vocalist of the band The Spins. Through his talent and dedication, he toured several times over the years sharing his music and connecting with people wherever he performed. His creativity and love of performing brought joy to countless people.
Nicholas also enjoyed traveling and embraced opportunities to experience new places and cultures, including memorable trips to Amsterdam and Germany. Most recently, he was employed at Congdon Lumber, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and friendly spirit.
Nicholas was a beloved son, brother, nephew, grandson, and friend whose kindness, creativity, and passion for music left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Jodi Niper-Coombs (Robert Golwick) and Michael Coombs and his wife Susan Coombs; his brothers, Alexander Coombs (Tiffany Justino) and Benjamin Coombs (Sabrina Heckman); his nephew, Henry Coombs; Paternal Grandfather Michael Coombs; grandparents Mary & Dave Michaud; special family friend Brian McGowan and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Alice Niper and his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Coombs.
Nicholas will be remembered for his generous heart, adventurous nature, unwavering love for family and friends, and the music that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared so freely.
Nicholas's Life Celebration will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Prayer Service will be offered at 7:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral Home. All additional services are private. .
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor his memory are encouraged to make donations to Father John’s Animal House at www.fatherjohns.org.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. Nick will be remembered for his unyielding determination in everything he pursued.
